Pastor. Preacher. Teacher. Community Activist. Leader. These are just a few of the terms that describe the Rev. Michael B. Price, I. Ralph Waldo Emerson was once quoted as saying “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” As an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, with over 20 years of experience, Rev. Price’s trailblazing ministry has done just that. This mantra and fearless approach to leadership and life can be traced back to his early beginnings in Havana, FL.  As the middle child born to the late Mr. Lee and Mrs. Mary Lee Price, Rev. Price learned early in life the importance of hard work and determination. Early on, Rev. Price displayed an innate leadership ability that would follow him through his adolescent years, however, its peak was soon to rise, as Rev. Price’s journey into ministry began. Unbeknown to him at the time, 1992 would become a year of life transformation for Rev. Price. As a young man in a position of leadership with a well-known company, he, at the time, felt that he “had it all”.  However, there was still something missing and a burden on his heart to which he could find no relief.  Surrounded by a family of prayer warriors, and in particular his grandmother, Rev. Price recommitted his life to Christ that year and then quickly acknowledged and accepted his call to teach, preach and shepherd God’s people the following year. This would be a defining moment in his life that would shape the entirety of his ministry.

In August of 1998, Rev. Price was elected and ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church at the Florida Annual Conference.  Over the past 20 years, Rev. Price has been blessed to serve the following congregations as pastor:

  • Olive AME Church; Micossukee, FL
  • Ball Chapel AME Church; St. Cloud, FL
  • New Bethel AME Church; Sanford, FL
  • Allen Chapel AME Church, New Smyrna Beach, FL

A hands-on leader, Rev. Price has dedicated his life to helping to empower God’s people to live their best lives through the teaching and preaching of the Word. Reverend Price is an anointed man of God who pastors, preaches and teaches the Word of God with biblical insight which allows him to proclaim with the dynamic ability the path to redemption and salvation.  He is an energetic pastor who has been blessed by God with vision and an unwavering dedication to servant leadership.  Rev. Price is an innovative and forward thinking individual with an astute mind for leadership, problem-solving, management and business.  As a community activist, Rev. Price can often be found on the front lines of social justice issues, particularly with the Hillsborough Organization for Progress & Equality (HOPE), the Tampa Bay Coalition of Clergy (TBCC) and Faith in Florida.

Rev. Price is a man who believes in and supports the ideals of education.  He is a 1989 graduate of Havana Northside High School.  He later went on to further his education by earning his Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida (2002) and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary (2010).
