The Steward Board is responsible for the financial and spiritual governance of the church. Stewards are charged with overseeing the fiduciary interests of the church as well as establishing operating policies and procedures. The Steward Board approves new initiatives, programs, and capital expenses as recommended by the pastor. These are the spiritual leaders of the church. Stewards serve and comfort the distressed and the needy. They also assist in determining the Pastor’s salary; Stewards help the pastor and ministerial staff in carrying out their duties. Stewards are appointed by the Pastor and confirmed (or rejected) by the Quarterly Conference.
The Trustee Board is responsible for the temporal concerns of the church. Trustees are charged with safeguarding all of New Bethel A.M.E. Church’s real estate properties and other properties and for making improvements and repairs when necessary. Trustees are nominated by the Pastor and elected annually by the congregation.
Christian Education[The Department of Christian Education of the AME Church is responsible for resourcing this global denomination for faith formation and leadership development throughout the lifespan for faithful and effective discipleship. As the Ephesian Epistle speaks of the variety of gifts and callings, it is through the variety of ministries, which make up the Department of Christian Education that the teaching ministry of the church is carried out.
The mission of the Church School shall be to teach, train, nurture, prepare, and recruit adults and children in God’s word for Christian service, emphasizing those Christian principles which are essential for effective Christian growth and participation. This teaching and training shall be designed to prepare them to assist them with effective living and Christian leadership in a changing society.
The Class Leaders Council is comprised of Class Leaders who are to nurture, care, and provide spiritual support and guidance to the members of the church. Class Leaders help the pastor serve, as they are the Under-Shepherds of the flock, which extends to fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ in preparing for God’s Kingdom. The Class Leaders Coordinator will facilitate and arrange all activities within the council and report to the pastor. Class Leaders are appointed by the pastor.
Lay Organization[The purpose of this organization shall be to organize and train the laity so that each layperson may utilize to the maximum the abilities and skills granted by God, in assisting with the improvement and extension of God’s kingdom, and creating happiness, peace, and harmony among its members.
Victorious Couples Ministry
The purpose of this ministry is to help enhance marriages and to help couples find the tools that are needed to maintain a Christian Marriage through fun fellowship, workshops, date nights and fellowship opportunities.
This department shall work with the pastor to coordinate the selections to be played at worship services and to prepare and implement all musical activities. The purpose of the Music Ministry is to provide a ministry that leads and facilitates the congregation in true worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through music and song. The Stewardess Board is composed of a dedicated group of Christian women, selected by the Pastor, who serve by preparing the elements of Holy Communion, assisting in the Baptism rite and the receiving of new members into the church.
Pastor’s Aid Board
The Pastor’s Aid Board’s mission is to give support and assistance to the Pastor and his/her family with a spirit of excellence and love. The board assists the Pastor in selecting guest ministers to preach in special events. The board also provides special gifts to the pastor for holidays and birthday.
Sons Of Allen
The Sons of Allen Ministry, the official Men’s Ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church fosters an atmosphere where men are inspired through worship, study, and prayer to have fellowship and relationship with God and their fellowmen. The Sons of Allen will build men as providers, protectors, producers, and priests for their families and the community of the faithful.
The Usher Board services the needs of the congregation at worship services. The primary duties of ushers, known as the doorkeepers, greet worshippers and seat them. They must make sure our members and visitors have our church bulletin and other available material and receive the offerings.
Versie Evans Women’s Missionary Society
The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) is an international faith-based, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), granted Special Consultative Category II Status in 1985 in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The WMS is composed of over 800,000 members located across four continents in thirty-two countries. We are in the forefront of works of the mission, at the head of the Church, operating from the highest level within each of twenty Episcopal Districts and reporting to every meeting of the General and Annual Conferences.
Sallie M. Holmes Young People’s Division
The YPD under the leadership of the WMS provides meaningful youth training programs and opportunities for leadership experience in all areas of church life. By providing training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations and Education programs the YPD is designed to connect youth more fully to the mission of the church and increase knowledge of the AME church history and the scriptures.
